Manila Getaway

I will share to you my experience traveling in manila for our 4days Agritourism with culinary tour. These activities aims to help us discover different places and foods.

I woke up 3am in the morning because our assembly time was 4am at the airport. Prior to our flight I packed my clothes that is good for my 4 days stay. I see to it that I packed all important things like plain ticket, ID, toiletries, emergency medicine and most importantly pocket money. Our flight to manila was 6:10 am while waiting for our boarding time we roam around inside the airport and bought some food to eat. At exactly 7:10 am we arrived at Ninoy Aquino National Airport and our day 1 activity trip has started.
October 18, 2019 Day 1: Exploring Rizal Park and National Museum of the Philippines.

Our van pick us up at the airport and our first stop for our educational tour was Rizal park. We went to Rizal shrine and take a photo in the famous land mark in Manila. The next stop was the National Museum of the Philippines. A museum, a place where we can go back out history and understand the things that happened in the past. When we got there I was amazed by how the structure was made. Before starting museum tour we our oriented by the tour guide of rules and regulations to be followed inside the museum. One of the greatest attraction inside the museum is the painting of our national hero Juan Luna the Spoliarium. There was lot of historical articrafts like paintings, visual art collections and antiques. Our most awaited part has come the buffet lunch at La Fiesta. We enjoyed a lot because the food was delicious you can choose whatever you want. One thing that we enjoy was having entertainment while we are eating. To end our day we proceed to Costales Farm where we spent our first night.

Day 2: Costales Farm to Enchanted Kingdom

I woke up by the cool breeze and chirping sound of the birds then look out to see the greenery. I felt like a princess from long-ago in our kubo with the fine mosquito net. For our breakfast they served fresh organic food. After we are done eating we went to a farm tour where they showcased how they humbly started, and grew the things on their farm. Nothing is wasted on their farm. They also have fishing, animals feeding, harvesting crops and sowing seedlings.

When lunch time came I super enjoyed it because they served organic foods. The course are unlimited green salad which is my favorite😋, pakbet, paksiw na tilapia, fresh cut papaya and watermelon for dessert. The tour is very educational that I can apply in our mini farm.

The next stop is the Enchanted Kingdom. I have been to other theme parks outside Philippines such as HK Disneyland, Universal Studios Singapore & Legoland Malaysia. I am very excited because this is my first time to go to Enchanted Kingdom. Places that you would not want to miss if you are in Manila area. It was the best place ever for me. Why? It’s simply because here at EK you can freely express the inner child in you. You can enjoy and free yourself from stress. When we enter its too crowded because it’s there 24th anniversary. Also I did not have time to ride because lines were too long. So what I did is I stroll around and buy some foods to eat. Thank you Enchanted kingdom for this worth while, adventurous experience.🤗❤️

For our dinner we are booked at the Tropical hut restaurant but sad to say our time was limited they canceled our bookings instead and served us a packed dinner while travelling inside the bus.

After eating we headed to our hotel where we stayed for 2 nights. We spend it at hotel Grand Phoenix Manila. I loved it because the hotel was near the Mall of Asia and any landmarks where we like to visit and buy some essential things.

Day 3:
Before we start our tour we ate buffet breakfast at the hotel. It was a was very tasty breakfast, good thing to start my day.

Next on our itinerary is the Manila City Tour. While traveling, we saw the Rizal Park, CCP Complex and Quirino Grand Stand. I am amazed of the beautiful exterior designs of the buildings. We didn’t have time to go inside and take pictures because of the limited time and the traffic.

After the manila tour we ate our lunch at Tramway Buffet. When we get there, a lot of people are lining up, you can even see them forming long lines outside. The restaurant must be popular that a lot of people are eager to go inside and wait for how many hours. Most of the dishes served are filipino cuisines so you wouldn’t have to worry with your taste buds. The food was great and scrumptious.

After were done eating, our last stop for day 2 was the Intramuros walking tour. We walked for 2 hours starting at Plaza Roma stopping by at Manila Cathedral and to Intramuros wall. The tour guide was informative and Active. I Had a wonderful experience touring Old Manila town. The quaintness is nicely preserved, with a couple of interesting museums inside. Great to be reminded of what Manila was once was and the impacts of the war on the city. Also the fort is within walking distance to the beautiful churches there the Manila Cathedral and the San Augustine churches. Lastly our tour guide brought us to a souvenir shop but didn’t force us to buy things which I like. Overall I enjoyed it because I get to know Manila even better.

And for our buffet dinner we ate at Barbara’s Heritage Restaurant. When you first walk in Barbara’s, you notice the traditional Filipino atmosphere. You climb up antique-looking stairs to this beautiful restaurant set-up. Dining in an old World ambiance with the classic Filipino-Spanish style Mansion while Listening to Kundimans. There’s a wide variety of food and the music and dances are also very entertaining. The food was delicious and most went back for more of both mains and dessert. The rooms were also beautiful old rooms with lots of old stuff on the walls and shelves to investigate. Plus, you get to see a heritage house, museum and a heritage garden.

Day 4: Our last day in manila 🥺

We ate our breakfast in our hotel before heading out for a tour. At 8:am we started The Big Binondo Food Tour, we walked 3 and a half hours non stop going to the culinary decadence and to know the tsinoy history of Binondo. Our tour was headed the famous old Manila tour guide Mr. Ivan Dy. we tasted the Authentic chinese foods such as Lumpia Pancit, Tofu, empananda, Dumplings Fried pancakes, Hopia, Kiampong, meatball soup, Fried siopao and champoy. As being mentioned my mouth waters reminiscing the moments while im enjoying eating those foods.
We went to buy souvenirs or pasalubongs in a local Chinese store. I bought the famous hopia, mooncake and mochi. Our teacher gave us 2 hours to spend in anywhere in Manila. I opted to go to Baclaran to buy clothes, slippers and shoes. We went back to the hotel and rest for a while, then for our last before going home to the airport was to visit Malacanang musuem. To follow the strict protocols of malacanang no picture taking and video was not allowed in some areas. I was amazed by what’s inside. There’s a lot of historical significance and stories to be told by each piece whether it be an art piece or furniture piece. The woodwork, chandeliers, and the decor is truly presidential. We get to know even the campaign song of the past president, some personal story of another president. Every function room has its own stories. After our tour at Malacañang musuem we go back to our hotel and packed up our things. At exactly 4:00 pm we need to gathered in the lobby of the hotel because we need go to the airport. Finally, after the 4 days Manila tour it was the time to go home. Bringing to me the memories of Manila.❤️
